Court rules against rail pension act in Washington
U S District Court ruled the 1935 railway pension act and companion tax measure unconstitutional. Injunction blocked $120,000,000 in first year taxes and $47,000,000 first year pensions, affecting over 1,000,000 railway workers. The decision cites the Alton case and bars actions to obtain employee records. An appeal to the D C Court of Appeals is planned.
