Latimer Bible School Plans By Y M C A Religious Work Committee

The Latimer Bible School of the Y M C A was outlined by the Religious Work Committee. Up to yesterday twelve churches pledged teachers or funds, with more expected. The program runs July 7 to August 1, daily 10 to 12? with gym, play room, swimming, and manual arts. No charge except a free will offering on the last day. Professor Earle Flohr of Blue Ridge college to be principal, each church supplying a teacher for about 40 children aged 6 to 14, enrollment opens June 30.

Enrolment drives summer school with broad church backing

An enrollment of 550 last year with 375 average daily attendance was recorded when the school was unknown and larger attendance is expected this summer. Churches supporting the project include First Christian Christ Reformed Zion Reformed St John s Lutheran Trinity Lutheran St Paul s United Brethren St Paul s Methodist Episcopal Church of the Brethren St Mark s Lutheran Calvary Baptist First Brethren and Presbyterian. Two Injured When Struck By Motorcycle

Arthur Provard tenant of Stafford Hall Farm is at Washington County Hospital with a fractured leg and fractured collarbone after being struck by a motorcycle driven by Ruben Wiley of Clearspring about six blocks east of Clearspring last night. His mother Mrs Bruce Provard was injured but not taken to the hospital. Provard and his mother and sister were walking from Clearspring along the Western Pike to Stafford Hall Farm when Wiley with another man on the back of the machine lost control as its lights failed, hitting Provard. A passing machine took him to the hospital after Dr F W Rich of Clearspring was called.

Passenger scandal on Taiyo Maru shocks liner crew

On the Japanese liner Taiyo Maru sailing from oriental ports toward San Francisco a passenger Mrs Lilly Townen of Stilwell Oklahoma claims she was insulted by a man who slapped his face. A near disturbance followed but the crew restored order as passengers and crew murmured at news and the ship steamed on.
