Moonshine Veteran Loops Time With Catoctin Stills
Lester Isanogle, 71, veteran moonshiner since age seven, plans a summer return to making whiskey despite retirement and high sugar prices. He recalls 33 to 34 arrests for bootlegging, one 90-day jail term, and fierce conflicts with tax agents. He owns mountain land, guns, knives, a guard dog, and a pistol habit, yet eyes a slower life aided by Social Security and rent.
