Many Fined On Driving Violations

A list of drivers cited for traffic infractions by state patrol and local officers. Lynn Musselman of 2151 Rowland Rd and John Niswander of 715 Spnice St were fined $6.45 each for exceeding 30 mph. Lester Lewis Jr paid $11.45 for no operator's permit. Donald Seaton faced $5.75 for failing to stop at a sign. Riley Shinsleston paid $26.45 for following too closely. Larry Funk faces $6.75 for exceeding 25 mph.

Maryland imposes three percent sales tax on meals

The legislature approved a new sales tax rule expanding the levy to restaurant meals starting at 25 cents, with exceptions for foods in schools colleges religious institutions and hospitals. Foods bought for consumption off premises remain excluded. The measure, signed by Gov Tawes and approved by the comptroller, takes effect June 13.
