Board defers curb work on Garlinger Chestnut and Potomac
The Board of Street Commissioners postponed awarding a curb laying contract on Garlinger Avenue and Maryland Avenue between Chestnut and Memorial boulevards due to financial hardship claimed by property owners. A 500 ton crushed stone contract was awarded to Samuel P. Angle at 7 cents per ton. The board also ordered residents to sign for all dead animals removed and noted 1159 cate, 243 Mogs, 271 units, 201 chickens and six misc. animals buried at a cost of 506.75. Captain Emmert reported progress on fire hazard inspections and taxi parking discussions will continue. A plan to license bicycles was deferred. James Mullendore, 8, broke his arm. treated at Washington County Hospital.

Professor Earl M. Pickens of bacteriology and pathology at the University of Maryland died of a heart attack Tuesday in Dr H J Patterson's office. Born 1888 in Parish New York he graduated from Cornell in 1911 and joined Maryland in 1918. He leaves a widow and three children from College Park.

Detroit Michigan June 13 The Chrysler Corporation announced that sales to distributors and dealers for the first five months of 1933 totaled 151 220 units compared with 119 105 for the same period in 1932.

Missionary Rev Brooks to Speak at Church Tonight
Rev Harlan J Brooks, a missionary on furlough from India, will speak at the Church of the Brethren this evening at 7 45 o clock. He spent seven years at Vyara India in charge of the denomination s largest church. Brooks has represented the local congregation corner East Washington and Mulberry streets aface he went to India, returning from the Hershey conference. His home is in California.
