Man's suspended sentence in fatal gas incident

Black man killed in courtroom shooting in Conroe
In Conroe Texas on June 12, Bob Whitt a 31 year old Black man once convicted of raping a white woman and repeatedly saved from the electric chair was fatally shot by W S Cochran a hotelier while the third trial opened in a crowded district courtroom. Cochran fired after approaching the prisoner then handed the weapon to a prosecutor and surrendered to a deputy. Bond set at 500 dollars with hotel posting later reported. District Attorney W C McClain announced proceedings continued.
