Shockey Sentenced to Eighteen Years in Beartown Murder
Samuel Shockey was sentenced by Judge Blééy in Chambers yesterday afternoon to eighteen years in the penitentiary for the murder of his brother Jacob Shockey near Beartown last March. The plea for a new trial was denied after defense counsel urged leniency. The accused admitted the shooting and claimed self defense after a quarrel over Jacob's common law wife Iva Wills Shockey. The girl alleged to be his accomplice faces trial later.
