Flood waters spread as dykes break across Kansas region

Flood waters from the Kaw and Missouri rivers spread across thousands of acres of farmland after dyke and levee breaks. The Kaw crest moved about 40 miles west of Kansas City while Missouri River pressure mounted from Hermann to St Charles. The Kaw breach north of Lawrence toppled a levee, flooding hundreds of acres and prompting mass evacuations. Workers rushed to strengthen barriers as hundreds of acres remained under water east of Hermann. A divorce suit followed, with Mary E. Brislin seeking a divorce from Leo A. Brislin, through attorney Martin L. Ingram.
