Parking limits set on city streets after new traffic system

The Board of Directors announced updated parking limits following the new automatic traffic system in the square. Washington from Potomac to Prospect and Totonme from Franklin to Antletant streets will drop from two hours to one hour, with further changes on Franklin and Prospect streets to nine hours on the west side of the miline square.

Properties in the North Jonathan Street area and Beaver Creek district were sold at public sale for multiple sums totaling $11,465 for Blanche P. Hea and $4,214 for a Beaver Creek farm. Foreclosure auctions listed 98 acres from Smoketown to South Mountain sold to Elmer A. Calderman for $43 per acre, with improvements noted. State Tax Rate Lower For Year In Maryland

Attorney Gennil iomas Robinson advised the Board of County Committers that the tax rate for the year will be 27 11-33 cents on the $100. Tax Linervicor Guy Gantz prompted the study after noting the 1922 act for a one third cent levy on bonds for the Southern Maryland Trunk Line had not been repealed by the 1924 Legislature. The Attorney General’s opinion says the Comptroller’s office will ignore the 1922 act, setting the rate at 27 12-36 cents this year and the same next year, then 27 9-10 cents in 1927. Three Children Die in Fire Near Whillesburg Maryland

Three children aged two to six perished when a house near Whillesburg, eight miles from Denton, Md, burned yesterday. The blaze swept through the second floor as the mother worked in the garden. Firemen arrived shortly after ignition but could not stop the rapid spread. Origin of the fire remains unknown.
