Fire ruins Monterey cottage owned by Dr Despard
A fire at a Monterey cottage leased by Major Byron and owned by Dr Despard of Philadelphia destroyed the house and furniture estimated at 12000 dollars with insurance coverage. Personal effects of the Byron family valued around 3000 dollars were also insured. No injuries reported as neighbors helped evacuate belongings before the structure burned in about half an hour. Mrs Byron was away in Wilmington and will likely relocate with Major Byron to another cottage at the mountain resort.

Gross Sentenced for Liquor Law Violation in Washington County
