In St Louis on July 18 Governor Park was urged by P A Tate to provide an armed escort for petitions filed to referendum beer repeal and Eighteenth Amendment repeal. Settlement Reached On Maryland Deposits Hold Bank Claims

Maryland will recover over 2.6 million in deposits from Baltimore banks under holiday restrictions. Governor Ritchie announced a settlement with ten surety firms for Union Trust Company deposits, detailing cash payments, guarantees, and remaining state claims as the banks reorganize.

Negro Held On Serious Charge

Horace Blunt aged 40, a local Black man, was arrested by Lieutenant J. F. Desmond and Patrolman Max Rickard for Berryville Virginia authorities. He waived extradition and was held for arrival of Virginia officers after being taken to Police Headquarters. Blunt was reported to be involved in the death of a Berryville youth.
