Seaman Held In Slaying Of Woman
A 19 year old seaman was held in Miami in the death of 42 year old Ella Mae Eames wife of a former Army chaplain. He said he struck her with a beer bottle in a hotel room and dumped her body in a blind alley. Eames had been estranged from her husband since 1925 and had three children. Authorities planned a conference on charges and the Navy held the suspect in custody.

Local Pair Champs At Turtle Catching
The Albert Shapps of Pope avenue and Ernest McDonalds of Freemont street won local pair championship by catching thirteen snapping turtles and eleven catfish along the Antietam near Breathedsville on Sunday. Sarnia Ont July 17 Fire destroyed the 360 foot Great Lakes passenger liner Hamonic carrying 255 aboard. Many injured and burned with at least 150 treated by 11 am at hospital and clinics. Fire spreading from docks at Point Edward leveled docks as American and Canadian fire crews battled the blaze. Costly Parking Pocatello Idaho July 17. Vernon Van Duyn fined $15 by Judge Charles A. Brown after arresting officers testified they found the defendant sitting on a curb and blocking motorists away from his parking place.
