Robert Muffin was fined five dollars and costs this morning after Magistrate William J. Dwyer ruled the case trivial. Eugenel Virts testified that Murfin kicked the neighbor's cat while mowing his lawn at 948 Maryland Ave. Virts' wife and 11 year old daughter corroborated. Murfin said he chased the animal away to protect it from the mower.

Alan Martin reported Mrs. Mac Semler 108 Bower Ave was struck by Cecil Randall 634 W Washington St who pulled out of Greenberry Road. Randall was charged with failing to grant the right of way per trooper Martin.

A former Hagerstown youth, 11 year old Mark Lehman, was fatally injured when run over by a road roller operated by Pennsylvania Department of Highways on the Chambersburg Scotland road near the Lehman farm. The incident occurred as he rode a bicycle on the new crushed stone surface during road construction. the operator, Lee Mellett of Mercersburg, said he was backing up and lost sight of the bike. The body lay between the rear and front rollers. The Lehman family recently moved to Franklin County from Hagerstown. Mark, born November 24, 1948, was a Mennonite and had finished sixth grade at Scotland Consolidated School and would have entered J. Frank Foust Junior High in fall. He is survived by his parents, Edgar W and Rebecca.
