Crowd Packs City Park for Municipal Band Concert
A large summer crowd attended last night’s city park concert by the municipal band. The program opened with Gateway to the South by Peter Buys, then Tk Guarang, Indian Dawn, and Pilgrim Chorus from Tannhauser. The younger set enjoyed Nola Sparkling and Hunting Scene. Critics note the band’s rising status as audiences arrived in autos from neighboring states. The postponed Thursday program will be replayed on July 19.

Driver Fined for Accident Near Clearspring
Ivan W Zimmerman of Clearspring was fined 100 dollars and costs in city court for failing to stop after an accident and reckless driving. His car struck Silvey Malotte near Big Pool. Zimmerman fled toward Hagerstown, license number obtained by witnesses, and he was arrested after admission of the offense. Malotte suffered severe leg injuries and other wounds, hospital treatment possible amputation.

Organ Played For Last Time At Zion Reformed Church
The pipe organ in Zion Reformed Church, in service over four decades, was played for the last time during yesterday morning service. It will be replaced by a new Molier organ costing about $14,000 with alterations for installation. Demolition of the old unit starts today and installation of the new organ will occur immediately after.
