Henry P. Fletcher retiring United States Ambassador to Italy plans to visit Greencastle during Old Home Week August 11 to 17. The Old Home Week dates back to 1902 and is run by homecomers with a parade, bands, baseball, receptions, and fireworks planned.
Vinton J L Hershey outgoing Rotary Club president was presented with a club pin at the regular luncheon at Hotel Alexander. President-elect Thomas L Smith presented it and praised Hershey's work and club welfare efforts during the year. The Hershey regime achieved 96 percent attendance. A formal installation of new officers and review of the year's reports concluded the program.

Member of Free Will Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, Odd Fellows, and Good Samaritans. Survived by daughters Edna Ethel Gladys. son James. three grandchildren Calvert Franceis Bessie. sisters Mrs. Eliza Harris and Mrs. Edith Howell. five in Virginia. Funeral 2:30 p.m. Friday at Good Will Baptist Church. Burial Halfway Cemetery.
Alma Lee Couch, OU Norman co ed and nursemaid, was jailed on bond after being arrested in the April jewel theft from a local home. She allegedly helped steal $2000 in gems from the residence of John B. Frederickson, after a robber knocked her unconscious and locked her in a closet. Local leaders and officials signed her bond and offered support.
Funeral services for Ernest Hull were held this morning. he died after injuries from a Sunday accident at McDowell avenue and Mechanic street. Hull, 21, served in the Navy and worked on the Daniel Buchanan farm near Blair's Valley. He is survived by his father William Hull, sisters Myrtle Ada Mary and Mrs Alice McKee, and brother Page. The service was at Blair's Valley Church of God with burial in Blair's Valley graveyard. Police search for Will Washington after a confrontation on Bloom Avenue left Tom Penn seriously injured. Investigators say Washington, a Black man, attacked Penn with a sharp object at about 7 40 last night, injuring his abdomen, side and arms before fleeing.

Police investigated a daytime burglary at 333 South Street the home of Harvey Davis. A lone burglar entered through a back window around 1 pm, stealing two gold watches one wristwatch a gold ring and nine dollars in cash and change. Neighbors saw the fleeing suspect and alerted authorities. The same man is suspected in earlier break-ins at Victor M Cushwa Presbyterian Manse and Mrs Franklin P Canby's apartment. No suspect found as of this morning.

Williams and Yancey mid air fuel stop at Alberica after a long flight totaling about 3409 miles in 31 hours 42 minutes. They refueled from 75 to 850 gallons, rested at Hotel Real, and prepared for the Rome leg amid public acclaim and official greetings. They planned to ascend beyond the Pyrenees with extra fuel and resumed the journey eastward toward Old Orchard.
