Plans for New Orphans Home Approved
Specifications for a combined Washington County Home for Children and Peter Gray Orphans Home and Mechanical Institute will be ready in about two weeks. Charles A. Weagley, chairman of the building committee, announced at the county home board meeting. Plans, to be reviewed by Peter Gray directors before bids are invited, follow recent approvals. At June 1 the home cared for 35 children. 22 in homes or with relatives, one returned from school, two from Baltimore, two placed in families. The home and placement program are reported to be in good condition with several placements and one admission. Appreciation expressed for donations from St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, P. Pitzgerald, Miss Grace Martin, Blue Ridge Transportation Co. and Q. J. Eagle for services and supplies.
