Stars Shine Across League as Sluggers Drive Wins

Joe DiMaggio homered twice and tripled while driving in seven in a 16-2 Dodgers over Senators. Jim Turner blanked Phil in a five-hit Bees win. Cronin fueled a 12-11 Red Sox victory over the Athletics with four hits and four RBIs including the winning run in the 12th. Hamlin held the Giants to five hits in a 15-2 Dodgers win. York blasted a homer with two aboard in the Tigers 10-8 triumph over Cleveland. Waner collected a triple and three singles for four RBIs in a 13-1 Pirates win over the Cubs. Dixie Walker homered three times in an 11-7 White Sox win over the Browns. Medwick drove in two with a homer, double and single in an 8-7 Cardinals win over the Reds.

Maryland Skeet Shooters Qualify For Long Run Trophies

Four Towson Gun Club skeet shooters from Baltimore earned spots in the long run trophies announced by the Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers' Institute. J. R. Groves Jr. of Baltimore shot 106 straight to win the silver trophy. I. Cox 77 targets, E. K. Haley 55, and H. W. Wright 50, all Baltimore, won bronze awards. The Institute announced bronze silver and gold pips for skeet or trap straight runs of 54 200 and 159 respectively.
