Shipyard Worker Admits Stabbing in Jealous Rage
Seattle July 5 A 28 year old shipyard worker admitted to stabbing his 19 year old wife to death in Bremerton Washington in a fit of jealousy. Det. Capt. James Lawrence identified the suspect as Charles Ray Ross of Knoxville Tennessee and the slain woman as Wilma Gaddis Ross of Roane County Tennessee. The couple had arrived in the region recently to work at Puget Sound Navy Yard. Ross claimed four Navy sailors overpowered him and attacked his wife before he later confessed saying he went out of his head after seeing her with a civilian and noting she had stepped out on him before.

Three Stunned By Lightning Strike Kill Cow on Farm
A severe electrical storm yesterday afternoon struck the William R. Shank farm two miles south of Funkstown on Route 49. Mr and Mrs Shank and their nine year old daughter stood by the house as the bolt killed a registered Ayrebire cow instantly. the family escaped injury. Weather observers reported roughly half an inch of rain countywide with temperature highs around 82 degrees and a 67 degree early morning low.
