New Water Line To Track Faster Progress In City

Safety Award To Be Given City Tomorrow
Hagerstown will be honored tomorrow for its pedestrian safety record in 1956. The American Automobile Association will present a citation at a Sheraton Belvedere Hotel luncheon. Police Chief Blair Overton and Sgt. G. Doornberger will represent the city. Last year Hagerstown logged 73 accidents with 7 injuries and no fatalities, with 66 injuries resulting from pedestrians crossing against signals or midblock. The city has earned state or national pedestrian safety recognition in five of six years and may gain national honors after tomorrow. Overton notes most injuries were from improper crossing and that Baltimore procedures may be reviewed during a Baltimore visit tomorrow night and Wednesday.

Mystery cleared up of blocked lane at Towson home

Quartet Held By Ice Fall On Mt Adams Rescue Under Way
Four climbers stranded on a 45 degree ice fall near the 10,000 foot level of Mt Adams, 105 miles southeast of Seattle, were awaiting rescue.
