Fees for Counsel Exorbitant Fees for Counsel Exorbitant

Annapolis MD Jan 30 State Bank Commissioner John W Downing told the House Corporation Committee that many bank receivership counsel fees were excessive and not in keeping with the work. He urged legislation to let the bank commissioner set fees rather than courts noting fees from 10000 to 1000000 in some cases and saying the fees were not justified. He added he did not blame the courts but that the commissioner is better positioned to know work done.
