New York January 30 A double barrell investigation begins into Judge Marlin T Manton of the U S Circuit Court of Appeals after District Attorney Thomas E Dewey charged more than 400000 in loans from litigants or parties linked to them. Dewey lists six loans totaling 439481 paid since 1932 and notes most were not repaid. The probe could lead to impeachment proceedings if the House acts, with Senate removal requiring two thirds. Dewey also says an DOJ inquiry is underway.
