Mrs. John Zimmerley moves toward Richmond Virginia to join her husband while Mrs. W L Lambert and Emma Hesson relocate locally. Various visits between Baltimore and local towns are noted along with several hospital releases and a light joke about “Steinmetz.”
A Funkstown couple hosts a 20th wedding anniversary party for Mr. and Mrs. George H. Howard. Their daughter Anna Mae Howard announced engagement to Donald Perry Wibberley of Bridgeport. The event featured a buffet, floral centerpieces and many well wishers.
The St Marys Catholic Sodality announces a card party at the armory on February 5. Co chairs include Mrs Frederick R Rowe and prefect, with committees for tickets prizes tables bridge hostess soft drinks and reservations. Tickets available from members or at the door.

The annual dinner in honor of Tax Collector Hugh K Troxell was held at the Hager House at 6 30 p m with yellow and green decor. After brief remarks by Troxell and others the guests enjoyed dancing and cards. Attendees included many office workers and court house staff such as Ami Saum Claude Artz and Mrs Catherine Anders. The committee comprised Mrs Lillian Burnett Mrs Virginia Clopper and Mrs Jesse Smith.
Members of the St. Mark's Lutheran Sunday School primary department hosted a surprise shower for Mrs. Gerald Smith at Mrs. Lawrence E McClain's Virginia Avenue home. Mrs. Smith is formerly Miss Wilhelmina McClain. Dudbridge provided entertainment and the bride received a blanket from department members. Attending guests included Mesdames Murray Esler Charles Alvord Allen Barnhart William Snyder Bernard Irvine Carlton Helm and Misses Ethel Fauver Mary Cowden Hilda Snyder Mary Catherine Detrich. PTA TO MEET Chewsville PTA meets Thursday at 7 30 pm with William Brish superintendent of schools as guest speaker. all members and friends urged to attend.
A Saturday party at North Potomac street hosted by Mrs. Frank S. Leiter Jr honors Carol Ann Leiter on her sixth birthday. The pink and white theme graced the afternoon with numerous named guests and generous gifts for the guest of honor.
The mass meeting planned for National Youth Week at the Church of the Brethren was postponed due to weather. Washington County Christian Youth Council president Mrs. Janice Welch Dorsey says the program will be held soon with a “fun night” at a local church and the Parshad award winner to be announced later. A separate supper party was hosted Sunday evening by Dr. and Mrs. Merrill C. Smoot honoring Dr. Hosea Meadow of Riggs Sanitarium.
February meeting of the Business and Professional Women's Club will feature Mrs William H Babylon of Williamsport giving a descriptive sketch of Australian customs. Miss Laura Shatto will read her prizewinning essay I Speak for Democracy. Reservations due by Saturday morning.
Dr James W Mileham announced the Parent Teachers Association of Hagerstown High School will hold its organizational meeting this evening in the school library at o clock.
