Hagerstown Fire Underwriters Recommend Full Time Chief

The National Board of Fire Underwriters release an 18 page report with 33 recommendations for Hagerstown's volunteer fire department. It urges a full time chief, relocation of Engine Company No. 1, a new engine company near Guilford avenue, and stricter building and water system controls. It calls for civil service hiring, a drill school, complete fire records, and explosives regulation enforcement.

Chosen President of Aviation Named for Amercia Affiliation

Col John H. Jouett of Hagerstown Maryland was elected president of the Aeronautical Chamber of Commerce of America succeeding Leighton W. Rogers of Washington D C. A West Point graduate and World War balloon pilot he led an American training school for Chinese pilots abroad until Sino Japanese hostilities began. Robert Gross of Lockheed Aircraft Corp and W T Piper of Piper Aircraft Co were chosen as vice presidents.
