City Forest Urged in Hagerstown Lecture
H W Wheeler of the U S Department of Forestry will stress a city forest plan at a Women's Club talk on Thursday January 31. The Civic League and Izaak Walton League back the project to plant 15 acres of city land along Antietam Creek by Boy Scouts under State Forester F W Besley. A conference of the bridge committee of the Hagerstown Chamber of Commerce with a Williamsport chamber committee will discuss selling Potomac River bridges to Maryland and West Virginia to create free bridges. Washington and Berkeley Bridge Company officers may attend. a report to the chamber board will follow. Manistique Man Sentenced Under Michigan Life Law
Tony Papish 49 of Manistique Michigan received a life term under Michigan law after being convicted of his fifth felony. Judge H W Runnels ordered the life sentence, noting Papish’s history of four prior felonies and crimes involving his family.
