Report Filed On Road Work In Washington County

The report by Abram Shunk foreman to the Board of County Commissioners covers 14 miles of bound roads, 58 miles repaired and 28 piles offered at a stand. About 20 tons of tar were used in repairs and roughly 7,000 for repair work. Around 4,600 was spent on repairing bridges. The year saw 109,000 gallons of tar, 8,000 gallons of cold water, and 68 barrels of tar were laid. The county used 400 feet of culvert pipe with 200 tons of c bins. Equipment bought included one crushing outfit, an engine crusher and bin, two roller ensembles, one stationary boiler, and two one-man graders. A five ton truck and tunnel equipment were added. Pensioners’ investigations will follow lodging of complaints with the Board. Washington County pays about 3,500 to around 200 pensioners annually, separate from Bellevue hospital costs. Sums to individuals range from 10 to 15 dollars, saving the county money by this system.
