Annapolis AP reports Gov. Tawes faces a push to end the 30 day biennial budget sessions and move to annual or longer sessions. Supporters cite tax and education funding debates as drivers, with talk of a constitutional amendment and pay raises for lawmakers.
Washington County tax assessors issued permits valued at 11,036,869 during 1962 for eight buildings each at least 100,000. Annapolis AP General Curtis LeMay praised the Maryland State Police for rescue and security work after an Air Force jet crashed near Cumberland on Monday. Rev Vernon W Miles announces a Tobacco Deliverance Class every Monday at 8 pm at Calvary Temple Williamsport starting January 27. He claims cessation through Christ, links smoking to nervous tension, notes coffee as a common companion, and says the Surgeon General’s report supports his church’s stance on smoking. He will instruct the class and the church refuses membership to cigarette smokers.
Washington County Deer Damage Commission urges six day buck season and a statewide antlerless season of three days on permit basis. Proposal recommends antlerless season start the Monday after buck season ends and assigns county permit numbers per Maryland Game and Inland Fish Commission to balance deer management and crop damage reduction.
