Arson Suspected In Theater Fire
A 24 year old West Antietam street man is held for questioning over two fires at the Colonial Theater Building on South Potomac street causing about 100000 in damage. Det Sgt Wayne Sellman said the youth was arrested late last night and questioned this morning. Firemen were overcome by smoke and one injured by falling plaster as the blaze damaged the interior. Further plans for repair await next week with officials and insurance adjusters arriving.

William R. Reid, 26, of near Clear Spring, was acquitted of a larceny charge by Magistrate Harry Snyder. The case followed Frederick Woodall, 35, of Hot Springs Va., accusing Reid of taking Woodall’s suitcase valued about $30. Woodall testified he met Reid for a job, and Reid advised placing the suitcase in a shed near Colonial Hardwood Flooring Co. The magistrate ruled there was no evidence Reid stole the suitcase. Reid called it wrong to steal from a man "on a bum."
