Washington County Board President Chester F Delphey says a proposed bill to establish a separate county police department is not requested by the Board. Fire at about 8:00 this morning devastated a large frame house behind the W. Geary Porter residence in Ravenwood Heights. The Funkstown Fire Company arrived to control the blaze which threatened the Porter family home where Bully Snively had lived as handyman for years. He was at breakfast when the fire was found. The rapid spread prevented moving much furniture before it burned.
Secretary of State Dulles told the House Foreign Affairs Committee in secret testimony that without swift U S action the Middle East could be lost to Communist expansion. He urged Congress to grant standby powers and approve economic and military aid as part of the administration's Middle East resolution.

A fourth youth faces circuit court action after three Hanover area youths were jailed on bond for beating cab driver Elmec P. Jones in Hanover. Jones, 42, was robbed of 43 dollars after being enlisted to take four youths along on the so called Rump Road. He sustained chest injuries in the assault. The fourth suspect, Albert L. Brean of 312 Elizabeth Street, was held in 5000 bond today by deputies acting for Sheriff Edward Rowland and Deputy Sheriff Claude Cline.
