At the Maryland State Horticultural Society meeting in Baltimore about 150 horticulturists heard entomologist Dr. E N Cory warn that the coddling moth poses a serious threat to apple crops. Speakers included Dr W S Hough and Prof Arthur J Parley. The day featured the annual dinner and upcoming conferences across affiliated groups including 4 H, poultry, vegetables, and stockmen. Baltimore and Ohio Conductor Injured In Icy Crash
Charles House, a Baltimore and Ohio conductor, and Miss Frances Ambrose, both of Berkeley Springs, were injured when their machine skidded on ice near the Hancock Berkeley Springs road and crashed into a telephone pole. House suffered several fractured ribs while Ambrose had a broken collar bone and minor bruises. The machine was nearly demolished. Miss Catherine Hall of Clearspring underwent appendicitis surgery at Washington County Hospital yesterday.

River Floods Quebec After Ice Dam Breaks
The St Lawrence River overflowed after an ice dam formed by a blizzard and 57 mile gale, flooding lower town streets and cellars up to seven feet. Levis waterfront area, across the river, also flooded and ferry service halted while travelers used a special train across the Quebec bridge. The gale drove ice fields downstream, creating the dam and threatening waterfront dwellers and businesses.
