Rescue at Sea: Lizzie M Stanley Aids Eva L Ferris Crew

The schooner Lizzie M Stanley arrived at Gloucester with the shipwrecked crew of the Eva L Ferris, including Captain W Clarke of Calais Me and Mrs Clarke and seven year old nephew, after the Ferris sprang a leak in a northwest gale off Thatcher's light. The crew endured 46 hours ashore lashed to pumps, with the Ferris sinking soon after.

Pittsburg Goal Combine Formed With 5 Million Capital

An independent organization named the Manufacturers and Coal Consumers company has been formed in Pittsburg with 5 million dollars capital paid in. It unites J H Jones interests and the Pittsburg and Buffalo Coal company under a common office and officers. The new group will control about 25 000 acres in the Pittsburg district with daily output near 15 000 tons, while competing with the Pittsburg Coal company as a rail combine.
