Aleshire aged 74 dies after a month illness at 327 Summit Avenue. Survived by daughters Mrs Reese and Mrs Cooper and Mrs Herbert Aleshire. sons Clyde K Wilghmanton Ralph Fairplay Donald P York. brothers Harvey Charles. eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Services at East Funeral Home Boonsboro and Rest Haven Chapel with Rev J Reichard officiating. Infant Leroy Richard Files dies at one week old at Washington County Hospital. Parents Leroy F and Betty Lou Files survive with brother Leroy F Files and grandparents Mr and Mrs Euunert Armstrong and Mrs Mildred Racey. Burial at Rest Haven Cemetery.
The Lindbergh baby case centers on Bruno Hauptmann, a Bronx carpenter identified by handwriting experts as author of the ransom notes. Investigators found 14600 dollars of ransom money in Hauptmanns garage, while witnesses link the killer to the crime scene and ladder origin. Hauptmann denied kidnapping and writing notes, claiming the money belonged to a late partner. he was executed in Trenton on April 3.
President Truman opened the annual Red Cross drive with a call to support disaster relief and military aid. He touted six million pints of blood collected last year and urged nationwide participation to sustain Red Cross services at home and abroad. The drive seeks at least 185 million dollars in donations.

Richard Russell of Georgia may enter the Democratic presidential race and attract Southern governors’ backing, potentially challenging President Altman.
