Senator Donahey of Ohio broke with President Roosevelt on the court plan, urging the issue be referred to the people as the source of political power. Senator Bulkley, a fellow Democrat, endorsed the plan in a radio speech, arguing opponents favor unqualified judicial supremacy.
State WPA headquarters approved Hancock's plan for a 500000 gallon reinforced concrete reservoir and new line to the filtration plant with a total cost of 20000 dollars. The project aims to secure a safe water supply after years of reliance on Little Tonoloway creek and droughts. A pumping station on the Potomac was added but storage remained insufficient until this project advances in Washington for final approval.
Two suits for divorce were docketed in court today. Through State's Attorney Martin N. Ingram Helen I Bennett filed suit against Roy E. Bennett while Clifford F. Funk through Attorney John F. E Walter filed suit against Mary E. Funk.

Five adults and one grandchild perished when a fire from an overheated stove engulfed the Johnson farm home in Danforth at about 1:30 a.m. Nels Johnson tended a sick cow in the barn as Roy Johnson called for help. Ruth, Barbara Williams, Arthur, Robert, Arnold and Mrs. Johnson died. Roy and Evelyn were injured and taken to a hospital in Escanaba as the basement collapsed trapping the bodies.
Jacob Magin, 49, once a six day cycling champion, was found dead from gas poisoning when his wife and son Kenneth returned home last night in Union New Jersey. He previously won six day races in New York Chicago San Francisco and Paris.
Handsome Ernest Greasley fled into hiding to escape 300 admiring laundry girls who shrieked at news of his transfer as foreman to another plant. His wife, 24, greeted the girls and defended his work as a tribute. Two small WPA projects started this week in Maugansville and Clearspring. A waterbound macadam street is under construction from the road to Maugansville school, about 600 feet, with twenty five workers. In Clearspring several side streets are being repaired and widened.

Stingard Stewart Walker a nationally known illustrator died in Richmond at age 48 after surgery on February 7 for a stomach ailment. He had been a prominent figure in American illustration and his work spanned multiple publications.
President Roosevelt asked all 48 states to enact soil conservation laws to curb dust storms and floods. He sent identical letters to governors with a model act creating soil conservation districts and local referenda for land-use rules. States would need these laws to access Federal support for conservation work.
Fire on February 27 destroyed the nurses home at the Florida State Hospital for the Insane in Chattahoochee Florida. About 300 residents escaped injury as 800 hospital employees, Quincy firefighters, and volunteers from Chattahoochee and River Junction fought the six hour blaze to keep it from reaching the main hospital housing over 4,200 patients. Most inmates slept when the fire was found at 1 30 a m and remained calm during evacuation.
On Monday March 22 residents will vote for a mayor and five councilors for four year terms if registered on city books. Hundreds who voted in November are not on the books and cannot vote. Register March 1 2 and 3 to ensure eligibility at your local registration place.
In Grand Haven Michigan workers end an all-night vigil at Eagle-Ottawa Leather resuming work and planning to stay through the weekend. A non-union group led by Samuel Robbins says they do not represent a union though some members belong to the International Leather Workers Union. A United Auto Workers organizer plans a mass meeting near Grand Haven as tensions over a possible sympathy strike loom.
At 1 15 this morn four persons were injured in a head on collision on the Middleburg Pike near the Airport. Frank J Kennedy Bowling Green Ohio and Joseph L Zimmerman Highland War this car collided. Injured were E F Potter Newark N J John Mathews Virginia Meais and Margaret Birely all with Kennedy car. Kennedy and Zimmerman escaped. Zimmerman fined $5 for failing to keep to the right.
Redlands Calif Feb 27 CP Officers weigh a Seattle tale of a man with a boy in his car as a possible clue in the Tacoma murder of 10 year old Charles Mattson. Dan Early 42 of Los Angeles described a man named Frank and a boy in a car, matching the kidnapper’s sketch. Early died after a jail fall in San Bernardino unsigned.
A chimney fire on Maryland avenue drew firefighters at 1 o'clock this afternoon. Damage was slight.
In Detroit on February 27 a woman and two men were injured as lead pellets were thrown during a sit-down strike at Ferro Stamping Company. Striking workers held the administration building while non union employees and office staff faced the attack. police then entered with crowbars and reports said six people were unharmed.

Frederick county deputy warden Benjam in F. Phebus reports wild dogs have slain up to 26 deer since January 1936 in Washington and Frederick counties, including an albino deer. Children sighted dogs pursuing a buck and killing it after a fence, as deputies vow a war on wild dogs.
