Chamber Mulls Higher Rates Protest Plan
Local Chamber of Commerce leaders, chaired by J. Stanley Wilmoth, consider protesting the American Railway Express Company rate increase which would raise costs for shippers across interstate and intrastate routes. Several Interstate Commerce Commissioners have not approved the new schedule, with action to be coordinated with the Western Maryland and Baltimore chambers. A speech on fire prevention and delegates to the National Chamber convention were also announced, along with plans to expand the Armory seating and a large Pythian Bazaar event led by Western Maryland Lodge 147. The Grand Jury contributed $1110 to the Day Nursery.
