Lancaster, Pa., Feb 19. Federal conciliator John Murray prepared to chair a meeting between labor and management to craft a back to work formula as a two weeks old transit strike faces AFL pressure and violence. Police ordered away 42 officers from the transit firm amid a crowd of 250 pickets and 1,500 spectators. The AFL general strike shut down only a few small plants and stores. the city with 60,000 people remained largely at normal activity. CIO officials offered support to strikers and suggested reinforcing picket lines and providing aid if needed.

Prince Georges County police continued their search of a five room house owned by 52 year old Ada Kropp who is ill in Prince Georges County Hospital. Investigators opened hundreds of wrapped packages found in the house and recovered about 500 dollars in small bills along with odd items such as a rat trap and a milk bottle cap collection. Kropp has lived there about 23 years and reportedly earned around 200 dollars monthly for the last 24 years.
