Funeral Car Collision Convict Fined in Mercesburg
Wayne Lake aged 28 of Mercesburg Pennsylvania was fined ten dollars and costs after conviction for unlawfully driving through a funeral procession on January 18. The incident caused a collision with a vehicle driven by Councilman J. G. Hellane. Lake, represented by attorney Omer T. Kayior, appealed to the circuit court and was released on personal recognizance. He testified he was westbound on East Antietam Street near the Blue Ridge bus terminal when the light at Antietam and South Potomac streets turned green, he did not see the hearse pass, and a car ran the light just as he reached the crossing.
