Navy destroys Tatnall rushes aid to ship in meningitis outbreak
Canal Zone February twelfth The United States Navy destroyer Tatnall carried physicians and serum to the training ship California State which sought help against a meningitis outbreak. The ship reported the first case last Saturday and a death Monday with a second case that day. Three doctors from Balboa’s Gorgas Hospital were aboard as the Tatnall left port to rendezvous at sea expected to contact the ship tomorrow.

Jackson Minnesota reports four members of Paul Poleart’s family burned to death when their farm home 14 miles from Jackson burned mysteriously last night. Poleart, with a head wound, was guarded in a Jackson hospital. Theodore Alt, hired help, delivered word after delayed roads. Alt said Poleart sent him for straw then to summon a doctor, sheriff, and coroner. The home was engulfed on his return.
