Civilian Defense Meetings Planned in Maryland Counties
The Washington County Civilian Defense Council and other Maryland councils plan a series of meetings to inform prospective inductees about entry into the armed forces. John G. Myers said events would start soon in all 23 counties, focusing on out-of-school selectees. Meetings may occur monthly or more often with 25 to 100 attendees to encourage discussion. A pre-induction information committee is proposed under Civilian War Services and Selective Service coordination. Selective Service will supply imminent inductees’ names to local committees.
