The so called phantom burglar entered through a cellar window between 1 and 3 am, rifled the Sipes residence on West Side avenue and took 45 dollars and change, a 21 jewel Waltham watch, and a gold chain with a Masonic emblem. Police suspect a partner acted as look out during the break in.
Leonard Krankowsky, 12, was sworn as a witness in a damages case. When asked by the plaintiff's attorney what would happen if he lied, the boy replied that the case would be lost.

The British Medical Journal recounts a four and a half minute collapse with the heart stopping and adrenalin injections restoring life. He later described visions of villagers and smiling faces in clouds. The operation was completed, the patient regained pulse at 31 minutes, and by the third week he was discharged cured.

Moscow report states Anna Grigotieva killed her two young sons by pushing them into the paddle wheel of a river steamer to force her fiancé to marry her. Sentenced today to 10 years in prison. The ex-husband reported the children missing after her changing tales of hospitals and exile. Investigation found the six and four year olds had drowned.
The four masted schooner Seth Parker with about 15 crew and radio entertainer Phillips Lord sent distress calls from about 300 miles north of Tahiti as a storm battered the vessel. The British warship Australia raced to aid while the ship reported taking water and a new squall lashed the seas.
Bedford Indiana death toll rises to three when a car carrying Roscoe Duncan Mildred Dixon Lucille Lysinger and Melvin Williams veered off a foggy road near Devil's Backbone and plunged 500 feet. Duncan and Lysinger died instantly Dixon died shortly after at a hospital. Williams survived with injuries.
A tornado struck a tenant community on the Murray farm near Grapeland Texas killing ten and injuring about forty. It destroyed thirty one tenant houses and damaged stores. Additional injuries and damage occurred in Ninevah Leon county Groveton Marshall and counties including Trinity and Houston.
Charles Bingham a Mercersburg repairman slipped on ice Sunday while at Chambersburg court. A coughing spell followed causing sharp side pains and hospital X rays revealed two fractured ribs.
