Englishman eludes rescue as Cabanatuan raid frees prisoners
Edwin Rose, a 65 year old Canadian born Englishman, slept through the Sixth Rangers raid that freed prisoners at Cabanatuan prison on January 30. He awoke to dead Japanese and empty quarters, slept through the commotion, and was later moved by Filipinos to a guerrilla camp before reaching American lines. Body of Slain Child Found in Georgia Swamp
In Brunswick on February 6 a two and a half year old girl Bettie Lou Frazier was found dead, clad only in a yellow polo shirt, floating in a dense palmetto swamp near her home. Coroner J D Baldwin said preliminary findings point to homicide and disposal in shallow water. Shoes removed and stockings stuffed in them, with parts of underwear found nearby. The mother Mrs Woodroe W Frazier resides in Brunswick. the father, an Army sergeant, is en route to Brunswick from Louisiana.

No Protest Against Drafting Essential War Workers
Brewer L Stouffer, WMC labor management chairman, said no protest has been received in local War Manpower Commission circles about drafting over 100 essential war workers under 20 in Washington county. German prisoner capture yields nickel from uncle
A. T. Malmed, a Philadelphia cement maker, had agreed to pay his nephew Captain Lawrence Malmed $5 for every German soldier captured. Capt.
