Joseph Raphael Hunt USN 26 naval aviator and 1943 national amateur tennis singles champion killed when his aircraft crashed at sea during gunnery practice 11:50 a.m. His plane spun from 10 090 feet after a run on a tow target. wreckage and recovery boats found parts. Hunt son of Mr and Mrs R G Hunt of Los Angeles attended USC and Annapolis, won 1940 Forest Hills crown defeating J A Kramer.
