College Man Arrested for Slaying in Beaumont
Robert Williams an 18 year old University of Texas sophomore was arrested in Beaumont on murder charges after Miss Elizabeth Johnson 16 was found shot to death in his car near Port Arthur. Williams claimed innocence sobbing to his father and denied the shooting as officials planned a preliminary hearing in Beaumont.

At Chapel Town near here a private party ended in tragedy when Noah Downs fired a pistol killing Earnest Killen and 15 year old Mildred Long during a dispute over a dance. Downs admitted the act and was held without bail as police arrived.

A Sunday afternoon fire destroyed Marioners Methodist Protestant Church in Chaheld Maryland with four hundred people inside. No injuries reported. Crisfield fire department could not stop the blaze.
