In Lackawanna County a 27 year old man, Albert Johnson, forced entry at Mrs May Royce's home after rejecting advances. He shot May Royce as she fled to her mother's room, wounded her 16 year old son William, and then killed himself with the same pistol as police arrived.

Mrs Ward N Choate of Detroit sustained chest injuries yesterday in a collision on the Middleburg pike. She rode as a passenger in Frances Choate’s car driven by Frances Choate’s mother. Charles R Madden of Maugansville drove the other car. Mrs Choate was taken to Washington County Hospital as sheriffs officers investigated. Both cars were badly damaged.
