A French cut price plan to halt intervention in Spain was submitted to other nations as Europe eyed a final showdown on Nazi Spain issues. The plan favors a complete embargo on men, munitions, and money to Spain, aiming to curb Franco while avoiding premature public scrutiny.
Berlin reports say Paris talks between Yvon Delbos and Count von Welczek touched on sending German volunteers to Spain and Germany’s need for iron copper lead and manganese. Observers say Franco German détente could hinge on colonial offers, possibly including former German colonies, to secure broader European security.
In Scranton Pa on December 26 District Attorney J L Carrigs said 19 year old Joseph Trohanovsky of Forest City would face a hearing today on charges he shot and killed his uncle Andrew Mecko while he slept after entering his bedroom following a reprimand. Carrigey said two bullets were fired one struck Mecko and the other went through a thin panel into a bedroom where Mecko’s parents slept.
Riley Hi Adams of Death Curve on Bootsboro pike recovers from injuries after a Monday crash with a Blue Ridge bus at a sharp curve at the western end of Funkstown. Both vehicles were damaged and Adams was treated at a hospital.
Maryland remains fair and warmer tonight with Sunday turning mostly cloudy. Sandy Hook to Tatteras expects moderate southwest winds and partly overcast conditions north and gentle shifting winds with fair weather south. Chesapeake Bay north of the Potomac shows moderate southwest winds over the next 24 hours.

A Christmas party ended in death for Austin and Mrs. Crowl of Gapland after their Ford crashed on the South Campfield road between Liberty and Reisterstown and burst into flames. Brother Harry Crowl Jr., 15, escaped with minor injuries but remained in shock after witnessing the deaths of his sister in law and brother-in-law as neighbors and a Pikesville officer tried to rescue them.

Police were asked to warn the Corbett street owner of a vicious police dog that is reported to have attacked two young girls yesterday and a son of David House of Fast Wilson Boulevard this morning.
Havana December 26 The powerful Menocalista party moved to support president Frederico Laredo Bru as the ouster of exiled president Miguel Mariano Gomez is pursued Senator Santiago Verdeja, leader of the party with the largest congressional bloc and rural strength, said Gomez’ six month inactivity regime drew their disfavor.

Atchison Kansas, December 26. Chemists Dr. Leo M. Christensen and Dr. Harry Miller say power alcohol will become a major factor in American farming within ten years. After months of commercial research, they show anhydrous alcohol can blend with gasoline up to 20 percent and run high compression engines. The fuel is already sold in four states Nebraska Kansas South Dakota and Iowa at gasoline price. The scientists recently moved to Atchison to revive an alcohol plant under the Chemical Foundation.
State Forester F W Besley announced the appointment of Karl E Pfeiffer, assistant forester, as director of state parks. Pfeiffer, approved by the University of Maryland Board of Regents, will oversee the four parks under the department.
William D. Bratton editor of the Cecil County News and scion of a leading local family died at his Elkton home early today after years of illness. He previously served as Cecil County schools superintendent and a member of the board of election supervisors.

The father wounded Christmas Eve died yesterday and in his final words attempted to exonerate his son saying it was all his fault.
