Scouts Deliver Toys to Orphans Home in Santa Claus Project
Troop 9 of Boy Scouts at St. John's Lutheran Church organized a toy drive for the Orphans' Home at San Mar, collecting over 100 toys and repairing many more. A program with an instrumental quartet and carols complemented the donation, aided by truck from Hagerstown Lumber Co. and volunteer drivers.

A 14 year old Peter Wolfe Jr. topped Fort Missouri's annual turkey shoot defeating seasoned marksmen. Each contestant fired one shot and Peter claimed a turkey half his size as the top prize.

Three Killed In Night Trains Collision Near Delaware Ohio
A head on crash of the Midnight Express and the Hastjern Mail near Delaware Ohio left three locomotive crewmen dead and fourteen others injured. Engineer F E Springer J J O Malley and James B Newman died. Paul Bazzle attempted to halt the oncoming train and fled as the engines toppled causing a dramatic rescue in ankle deep mud.

Trio Injured In Collision Near Hancock
Three people were injured in a head on crash of an automobile and a beer truck on the National Highway four miles west of Hancock Saturday evening about 6 o clock. D C Price 18 and William H Price 45 of Little Orleans were taken to Washington County Hospital with cuts and eye injury. Truck driver John Renner of Elizabeth Street had cuts and bruises and was not hospitalized. Over a hundred cases of beer were demolished. Corporal N G Falkenstine is investigating. Separately a collision near Mapleville left Melvin Byrem and Edgar Betz uninjured. Sheriff Max Malott and Deputy Harvey Maugans investigated.

Charles Shafer of Downsville and Dr W J Sullivan of Funkstown plan to sail from Baltimore on December 26 aboard the Newport News to Belgium to purchase pure bred Belgian stallions. It would be the first importation of Belgian horses to the county. They expect to spend several weeks in Belgium selecting horses. The horses will be shipped by boat to Baltimore and then brought home.
