A Pennsylvania couple’s honeymoon miscue ends with their car moved to a public garage after Patrolman Karns warned them to remove the conspicuous Just Married decorations from the car left at the Hamilton Motel. The sequence drew an audience as the car remained in view while the couple remained inside.
Doctors acquire three properties south of the State Armory on North Potomac Street with plans to remodel two for offices. Dr. Stanley G. Moore and Dr. Harry D. Bowman, orthodontist and child specialist, respectively, are the new owners. The week’s realty sales totaled about $130,000 as the market slowed into the holiday season.
Upstate New York endured severe cold with readings from 10 below at Rome to 5 below at Oneonta. The Weather Bureau forecast continued cold today, slightly colder tonight and a slight moderation tomorrow.

An official report says a large party of Jews in battle dress and khaki attacked the village of Qazara near Rehovot early today. One Arab was killed and another wounded in the three hour assault.
Mrs. Clara Smith of 11 Clarkson Avenue was fined $5 and costs by Magistrate M. V. B. Bostetter for playing her radio loudly after midnight on December 14. Neighbor Mrs. Lei la Sheldon testified the noise vibrated walls for three days and that panels rattled as the radio blared at 1:10 a.m. Smith claimed she heard doors at 3 a.m. and that her daughter returned from work then. The magistrate noted the light penalty due to the Christmas season and warned both parties about mounting radio disputes.
Maryland ranked fourth among states in reducing indebtedness for the 1947 fiscal year, cutting about 6.6 million dollars while New York North Carolina and Minnesota cut more. Total state debt rose nationwide from 2.370 billion in 1946 to 2.950 billion in the last year. Maryland's June 30 debt stood at 28.097 million, Connecticut roughly similar in population shows 28.433 million, up from 22.835 million prior year.
Sheriff Joseph D. Baker announced that Howard Youngblood, a former honorary deputy appointed months ago to assist on a case, is no longer a deputy sheriff as his commission terminated on December 15.

Washington reports Major General Bennett E. Meyers and Bleriot H. Lamarre face a January 7 court date on perjury indictments. Lamarre, former Aviation Electric Co. president, testified that his earlier statements were false and implicated Meyers in kickbacks.
William L. McCarty, 42, Hancock, was charged with driving under the influence after his car collided with Bernard Flowers, 22, Hancock, two miles east of Clearspring on Route 50 today. Flowers suffered injuries and was taken to Washington County Hospital. Evidence said McCarty halted in the highway and Flowers’ car rear ended it.
Eight Black children aged 13 to eight months were burned to death when a three room house burned with parents away visiting relatives. City Marshal J J Phillips said flames started as they returned and the fire was likely caused by an overheated stove. The children were asleep.
Congress approved a $522,000,000 relief fund for France, Austria, and Italy as the centerpiece of a 33 day special session. Alongside it, a Republican bill urged voluntary business and farm measures to curb domestic living-cost rises while easing shortages abroad. The stopgap relief fund was approved before adjournment.
Washington reports that President Truman is expected to sign the Republican voluntary inflation bill mainly to preserve export control power over scarce commodities, retain authority to allocate transportation facilities, and restore wartime grain restriction for liquor. He will also reaffirm that voluntary industry agreements cannot cap inflation and reiterate calls for standby wage price control and rationing authority.
The administration push for an $75,000,000 European winter aid, plus a separate $18,000,000 China grant, fared better in Congress than the ten point anti inflation program with wage and price controls, which was rejected.

Richard W. Fitz, 22, of 460 block George Street, was ordered held on $1,500 bond for action of the February Grand Jury on three breaking and entering and larceny charges after arraignment before Magistrate M. V. Bostetter. He was arrested yesterday in Frederick in connection with burglaries at Broadway and West Washington street schools and a filling station at Boogsbere.
