Plan for Wolfsville Church Pilgrimage in 1929
Representatives of United Brethren churches in Middle Town Valley met at Wolfs IsleUnited Brethren church to form an organization for a pilgrimage at Wolfsville in summer 1929. The event will revisit Hoover barn where early services were held. The pilgrimage is set for Sunday afternoon July 21 1929. Cyrus F Flook chairs the committee with Floyd Lovell secretary and Ary Kline treasurer. Executive committee includes Mrs Emory Frey Garfield and Walter Wolfsville church.

Many Absentees Close Greencastle School Briefly
Greencastle School closed two days early for a Christmas break as 73 pupils were absent amid grippe concerns. At Hagerstown High School 246 of about 1100 were absent but the principal said the situation was not alarming. Some pupils had scarlet fever or scarlet feet. a nurse conducted daily checks.

Kentucky Derby Campaign Title Emerges for Legion and Auxiliary
Mrs H J Harp will lead the Maryland race in the first Kentucky Derby joint national membership drive of the American Legion and the Auxiliary. The derby runs January 2 to May 18, timed with the 55th Louisville Derby closure. Fifty four derbies have been held in Louisville as the next convention approaches. 64 Legion and Auxiliary departments are named after Derby-winning horses, with states arranged alphabetically starting with Alabama as Relgh.

Maryland Race Figures in 1928 and 1908 Winners
Count the 1928 winner and Wyoming haying Baden Baden the 1877 winner. Maryland is Stone Street the horse which won in 1908. Each department will be called by the name of the commander and president Maryland being the Smith Ramsburg Stable. The district vice presidents are the trainers Nickel Walton for this district. The local unit Jockeys Harman and Wallace Mrs J C Harman and Mrs J O Wallace. Mrs Harp in charge of the race in Maryland is membership chairman for the department. The department with the highest paid memberships on January 2 will get the best position in the race, and all Legion Post and Auxiliary Units will cooperate. The local Unit has 77 members and hopes to reach 100 by January 1. There will be a meeting of the Auxiliary Unit tonight and donations for Christmas baskets should be brought to the Legion home tonight unless perishable foods. The Auxiliary will distribute more than half a dozen baskets to families of needy ex service men here. Mrs Lewis T Byron Potomac avenue is visiting in Harrisburg.
