Hugh Hartman of Franklin and Mrs Ruth Frazer of Marshall College plan holidays with Hartman family. Stewart Hartman of Cavetown joins to spend Christmas at Elkton. Rev J Friday accompanies them on the trip.
Two fine community Christmas trees, obtained by A. K. Coffman with cooperation of Emore Miller, superintendent of construction for Municipal Light Co., were erected today in Public Square and Washington Square. The trees were got with city support and assistance from municipal crews.
Mr Coffman notes eight years of city service in selecting near Clearspring cedars for the Public Square. Cry Light Plant and Potomac Edison will erect the lighting and bases, with Harry Bester supplying concrete blocks. He fears continued overcutting will deplete tall, perfect trees and urges using growing evergreens for future decorations to avoid loss of Christmas beauty.
A 20 foot community tree was raised in Keedysville center with plans to trim today. The Public Square and Washington Square trees host carols with the Municipal Band directed by Peter Buys from 7 to 8 and trombone at 9. H.T. Johnston of Reading visits Hagerstown for Christmas carol singings after church services.
