Prominent jurist of the Fourth Judicial Circuit, Robert R. Henderson, died at 8:10 a.m. at Allegany Hospital in Cumberland after a two week hospital stay. Survived by widow Julia Henderson, daughter Auris George Henderson, two daughters, and two sons, with a long career as judge, state attorney, and civic leader in Allegany County. Born January 9, 1868 in Allegany County, he studied at Allegany Academy, Princeton, and Maryland University Law School, practicing law and serving as State’s Attorney before becoming a judge in 1903. He supported Republican causes and held numerous community roles including endowment trustee and library advocate. He was connected to Cumberland’s business and civic life and engaged with Princeton clubs and state bar associations.
