The Golden Jubilee closing service at Mrst Christian Ghureh inspired attendees with deep spiritual reflections and memories of former pastors. Rev Win Norment praised the realized hopes while Rev Geo B Townsend of Lima Obie outlined Growing Conceptions of God, noting God’s presence beyond the house of forefathers and guiding lives.
Rev Norment urged the flock to remember fathers who laid the foundation and to strive for alma worthy. Closing words from Rev Townsand Kendrick Cava encouraged and bid farewell as Mrs Bentz led organ and Miss Campbell sang an aria. The opening prayer was by Rev Higgs and benediction by Rev Lowell. A great gathering became history.

In a separate incident, Western Maryland Railway locomotive No 8 plunged into the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal after derailing on an open spur. engineer and fireman escaped.
In a night operation, crews attempted to raise a damaged craft wedged between canal walls. Workers used trucks to move the vessel, while onlookers watched the heavy effort unfold under dim lighting.
Western Maryland freight engineer C Shellman was injured when his locomotive collided with a second freight bound from Baltimore to York. Train No 310 cut in order to evade a hazard near Hanover, Pennsylvania, causing the leading engine to strike Shellman’s train as it descended a three mile grade.
James Teylin of New York was principal speaker at the Hagerstown Lodge of Eagles last night. He touted the order’s 400 percent service and 90 000 new members in a year, highlighted strict auditing, and noted $45 000 000 paid for sick and death benefits. Other speakers included Charles Comisky and P H Nicely as plans for a large class initiation move forward.
Bids opened by the Board of Street Commissioners show the cheapest drain option at about 46,000 to relieve storm water in the southern city section. Pipe type prices vary, with lower pipe cost but higher installation expense. Estimated pipe costs 16,000 and installation 21,000.
