Wounded Prisoner Goes To Hospital
Joe Morgan, 29, of East Washington street, moved from police headquarters to Washington County Hospital and back after an incident Saturday night. Patrolman John Lillard, who arrested Morgan for drink disorderly conduct, said Morgan struck him and a desk clerk while being placed in a cell, requiring stitches for a head wound. Lillard and Bell were treated for cuts. City officers made about 25 arrests over the weekend including William Ricketts, 38, for drunkenness and assaulting his wife, and Clarence Wilson Sanders, 31, for drunken driving. Patrolmen investigated a disorderly house in the colored section, arresting four inmates, one white.
